Competition terms & conditions

  1. Entry is open to all residents of Australia except employees of NSW Maritime and their immediate families.
  2. Entry is free and there is no limit to the number of entries.
  3. By submitting an entry to the Boat for Life Photo & Video Competition each entrant agrees to:
    • assign all intellectual and property rights in each photo or video to NSW Maritime (images will not be returned unless specifically requested) on the request of NSW Maritime; and
    • allow the image(s) to be used for any purpose, including publication in NSW Maritime publications and on the internet.
  4. Entrants must have taken and own all rights to each image entered. It is the responsibility of each entrant to make sure that the use or publication by NSW Maritime of any photo entered in the Boat for Life Photo & Video Competition will not give rise to any claim, demand, action, suit or proceedings. Entries without an accompanying duly signed Image Release Agreement will not be considered.
  5. Entries from persons under the age of 18 must have adult consent. If the winner is under the age of 18, the prize will be awarded to a parent or guardian.
  6. Any persons included in the image must have consented to the image and any subsequent use of the image. By entering the image the entrant warrants that the consent of all persons depicted in the image(s) has been obtained.
  7. The winner will be the entry judged by a NSW Maritime Judging Panel. Images will be judged on the relationship to the theme, composition, originality and the advancement of safe and responsible boating.
  8. The competition will close at the end of each quarter, based on seasons (30 Nov 2009, 28 Feb 2010, 31 May 2010, 31 Aug 2010), and winners will be notified as soon as winners are selected by the Judging Panel. Note that the original intention to close the first round on 31 Aug 2009 has been modified, so that all entries received through to 30 Nov 2009 will be considered to be part of the first round.
  9. The winners will be notified by phone and mail and the winner's name and winning photo will be published on www.boatforlife.com.au. The Judging Panel's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  10. The prize is not redeemable for cash.
  11. Each entrant acknowledges and agrees that NSW Maritime will not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever suffered, including but not limited to direct or consequential loss, or personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with this competition and/ or prize.
